Plans and Goals

In an effort to make less long term plans, first I'd like to reflect on the difference between plans and goals.

Plans are the things you make about a month ahead of time; they are steps to your goal.

Goals are the things you make for the distant future.

If you make distant-plans you end up not being able to fulfill them because events in life are constantly shifting and re-arranging your plans.  Goals, however, are so long term that they do not have to be altered.  They are dreams.  And if you make your plans to achieve your goals as short installments along the way, there is room for the plans to shift.

This is better than making plans for a year from now, as if they're set in stone, and being unable to follow through with them.
